Towns Along the Way
The Katy passes through mostly rural landscape with very small villages or crossroad settlements. We have selected these interesting towns for overnights stays. Most accommodations are in comfortable bed and breakfast or small inns.
- Clinton, at the western end of the Katy Trail
- Sedalia, site of the Missouri State Fair and early home of Scott Joplin’s Ragtime
- Rocheport, a delightful river village stopover. Lewis and Clark camped nearby.
- Jefferson City, Missouri’s capital city since 1826 (N. Jefferson trailhead)
- Hermann, an antiques and winery town (McKittrick trailhead)
- Augusta, a small winery village.
- St. Charles is the site of Missouri’s first capital city (1821 – 1826)
