What to Expect

Ride from your Charlottetown lodging on the Confederation Trail with overnights at St. Peter’s Bay, Souris (two nights), Montague and return to Charlottetown.  This Prince Edward Island biking tour uses the Trail or options for more than half of the trip.  Cyclists can make adjustments and select road options on most days.

Note:  This tour uses the Confederation Trail for about 2/3 of the trip.  Road alternatives are available on most days and for those interested can be selected each day as they go.

Itinerary

Day 1(Travel Day – Arrive in Charlottetown, PEI)

This is a day to travel to PEI, flying or driving. An overnight stay in Charlottetown is included on Day 1.

Day 2Cycling begins Charlottetown to St. Peter’s Bay 58 km (36 mi)

Start cycling today – leave luggage behind with your innkeeper and connect with the Confederation Trail about 1 km from your Charlottetown inn. After 8 km you will follow the main east – west trail along the Hillsborough River to St. Peter’s Bay and your overnight destination.

Day 3St. Peter’s to Souris 36 km (22 mi)

Today’s route takes you to a spur trail leading into the port city of Souris for the next overnight stay. Optional quiet but hilly roads are available for variety in your ride or you can use the Trail entirely.

Day 4Second night in Souris (0 to 50 km (31 mi) / optional)

Your option today is round trip cycling to the East Point Lighthouse or just take the day off. You can use the Confederation Trail one way to the lighthouse and a lovely coastal road on the return to your second night in Souris.

Day 5Souris to Montague 55 km (34 mi)

Cycle today on a mix of quiet country roads and Confederation Trail to a country inn near Montague.

Day 6Montague to Charlottetown 44 km (28 mi)

Today’s ride to Charlottetown is mostly on roads with a short section on the Trail. Enjoy your last night on the Island. Return rental bikes if necessary.
